Being a mom is a hard job! It’s a job that you don’t get training for and it doesn’t come with an instruction manual! Thinking back on my younger years, my mom spent many sleepless nights with me. Whether it was taking care of me because I was sick, helping me with a late night school project or at my cheerleading competitions, she was always there for me. Whatever it was that I wanted to do she would always be there to support me and cheer me on!
As you get older you realize how much hard work your mom has done for you and how many sacrifices she has made. Now that I am older I always want her to know how much I love her and thank her for all her support throughout the years! For as long as I can remember I have given my mom flowers for Mother’s Day but this year I wanted to surprise her with some flower cookies!
Tools Needed:
- Flower Cookie Cutter
- Baked Cookies
- Royal Icing
- Wilton Gel Color (Yellow)
- Tipless Piping Bags
- Toothpick
- Coffee Filter
- White Nonpareil
Let’s start out by piping two tear drop leaves on opposite ends of the flower, using medium consistency light yellow royal icing.
Next flood your tear drop leaves.
Continue piping and flooding your cookie until it’s complete. Let your cookie dry out over night.
Pipe a medium size dot at the center of the cookie using medium consistency white royal icing.
Now this is where the fun part begins! Place a coffee filter underneath your cookie and sprinkle white nonpareils over the center dot. Then let the center dot dry out over night.
I made a quick video to show you how you should turn your cookies while applying the nonpareils.
Once they have dried out your cookies are ready to be packaged as a gift.
You can place them in a cellophane bag and tie the top with a bow, or put them in a pretty box and give them to your mom! Either way I think she will be very happy!
I hope everyone has a Happy Mother’s Day!
